Why Buy Our Felt Rugs?

Our felt rugs are not just floor coverings—they are works of art. Made from 100% pure wool, they are soft, durable, and eco-friendly. Each rug is hand-felted by women artisans in Nepal, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. They are perfect for:

Living Rooms: Add warmth and texture to your seating area.
Bedrooms: Soft underfoot and cozy for cold mornings.
Nurseries: Safe, non-toxic, and gentle for babies.
High-Traffic Areas: Durable felt resists wear and tear.
Eco-Friendly Homes: Biodegradable and sustainably made.

About Felt Wool & Felt Sheets

Felt is one of the oldest textiles in human history. Unlike woven fabrics, felt is made by matting, condensing, and pressing wool fibers together. This creates a dense, durable, and insulating material that is naturally water-resistant and soft to the touch. Our felt rugs are:

Eco-friendly: Made from renewable wool, biodegradable, and dyed with non-toxic colors.
Durable: Felt does not fray, so it holds its shape for years.
Soft & Warm: Perfect for cold floors and cozy spaces.
Hypoallergenic: Naturally resistant to dust mites and mold.
Unique: Every rug has slight variations in texture and color.

Uplifting Nepali Women Through Fair Trade

At Nepal Art Shop, we work directly with women's cooperatives in Kathmandu and surrounding villages. These women are skilled artisans who have been crafting felt products for generations. By providing fair wages, safe working conditions, and consistent orders, we help them:

Support their families and send their children to school.
Gain financial independence and decision-making power.
Preserve traditional Nepali crafting techniques.
Build a sustainable future for their communities.
